IS THIS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST FOR 2022? Scotland’s NC500

Scotland is a destination that evokes images of incredible landscapes, castles, mystical times, and endless possibilities to escape from the realities of life to soothe the mind and soul.

The biggest cities in Scotland, Edinburgh, and Glasgow, offer something distinctly different, that being the chance to experience that “Scottish warm welcome” to live alongside the locals and finally understand why Glasgow is a place with probably the most character and diversity in all of Scotland.

As much as we love having you stay with us at the Kelvingrove Hotel, we would be doing you and Scotland a great disservice by not telling you about Scotland’s NC500!

What is the North Coast 500?
The USA has the route 66, Ireland has the Wild Atlantic Way, and Scotland has the NC500. In our opinion, this coastal route of over 500 miles is the most beautiful in the world. This is one road trip you will have to experience at some time in your life, so consider if 2022 is the year to do it, plan early and get your summer holiday dates in the diary.

Most people will start and end their NC500 itinerary in Inverness. Often considered the gateway to the highlands, Inverness is approx. 4 hours by car from Glasgow and a great spot from which to start your adventure. Although you can do your NC500 road trip at any time of the year, it is worth considering that summer is peak time and with limited properties in the more rural parts of Scotland, so early booking of your accommodation is advised.

Endless possibilities of where to stay will present themselves from an isolated cabin in the north peninsula to a luxury castle stay, the fun of planning your itinerary will transport you there before you’ve even left your sofa. There is information to discover on everything from campsite advice to the history and heritage around the NC500.

So many reasons to travel Scotland’s NC500 will tease you as you start to research the subject. The pace of the trip will be dictated by you, are you an action-packed holiday maker or one that needs peace and quiet to absorb the awesome scenery. The choice is yours, enjoy it all.

All information on what you need to plan the road trip of a lifetime can be found here. including maps, travel advice, suggested itineraries and Covid19 updates.
