Top Breakfast Spots To Make Your Break

As we’re running a fantastic promo giving you late checkout on Sundays and Mondays for the next few weeks, we wanted to give you a rundown of where you can spend those precious last hours in Glasgow before catching your ride home. Of course, with each booking at the Kelvingrove Hotel you’ll receive a complimentary, full Scottish breakfast, but if you fancy using that late checkout to sleep away your woes, then Glasgow is bursting with some of the best places in the country to indulge in a hearty morning meal. Read on to find out which are our top picks.

For a little slice of New York City right here in Glasgow head to Tribeca for brunch. Served all day, you can take your pick from baked eggs, bagels and American-style pancakes with lashings of syrup and bacon. If you like youe coffee strong and your breakfasts hot, this is the place for you.

Housed within the ground floor of a traditional Glasgow tenement, Singl-End has exploded in popularity over recent months, and rightly so. With a few celeb sightings about the place you know you’re in good hands – the only trouble is choosing between Middle Eastern-style egg and halloumi casserole or something sweet from their famous cake table… even better, treat yourself to both.

Take a short walk through Kelvingrove Park to blow away the cobwebs and you’ll find yourself on Gibson Street, home to much-loved restaurant, Stravaigin. This place is better-known for its nighttime gourmet dishes but don’t underestimate its Sunday brunch. Serving everything from Indonesian fried rice with bacon and king prawns to steamed Shetland mussels or French toast, the venue is the perfect place to people watch with a cup of tea as you take a culinary trip around the globe.

Tapa Bakehouse

If you’re venturing over to the South Side for the day then try a spot of brunch at Tapa. The organic bakehouse and café makes its own loaves each day (including a selection catering for the gluten free foodies out there) and offers full Scottish and Vegetarian breakfasts, served up with what was once called “the best coffee in Glasgow”!

For those of you with a train to catch, waste no time by heading into town early and filling up at Martha’s, a café for busy folk who don’t want to compromise on their healthy eating regime. Fresh, fast and as locally-sourced as it gets, the menu you will have you eager to order as soon as you step through the door. Veggie haggis rolls, salmon avocado egg pots and wholegrain porridge with Goji berries all make an appearance at this city favourite.
