One For The Dog Lovers!

The Dog Lover Show

Calling all dog lovers! September is your month! On the 8th and 9th, Glasgow’s first indoor Dog Lovers Show will hit town, and it’s looking set to be a hit with tickets already flying out the door. The event is the biggest of its kind in Scotland and whether you’re a current owner of a furry friend or looking to give a rescue pooch its forever home, you’ll find what you’re looking for on this special September weekend. There’s so much to see and do for visitors young and old alike, that we’ve given you a quick-fire round-up below on what not to miss.

Shopping

Straight to the important stuff! If there’s a four-legged friend in your family, you’ll know how good it is to see their wee face light up when you bring a new toy home. Trust us, you’ll never have seen so many dog-based retailers in one space before, meaning you can literally find anything on your shopping list.

Meet the Breeds

Ever wondered what a Lancashire Heeler looks like? How do you fancy petting a Retriever? Meet the Breeds is where you can get up close and personal with over 30 dogs breeds, brought to the show by loving owners and members of Scottish and UK-wide clubs. Just don’t get too attached!

For Wee Ones

As well as getting to cuddle, pet and pat dogs until their hearts are content, kids can get involved with the Junior Vets Club. This experience, designed by show partner Pets ‘n’ Vets, gives children and young people some hands-on experience of what it’s like to be a vet, either as future career inspiration or just to familiarize them with animals a little more.

Main Stage

Love the idea of seeing some of the quickest, most agile dogs from around the country? The main stage will be entertaining visitors all day from 10am until 5pm, with shows from the UK’s most showbiz dogs. Expect tantalizing feats, cheeky tricks and lots heavy panting as the show dogs work up a sweat performing live shows and stunts – not to be missed!

Adopt and Rescue

Owning a dog is not something to be entered into lightly and is a huge commitment. If you’re not ready to make that step, you can meet with some leading rescue charities to arrange sponsorship. If you’re thinking about adopting, meet the professionals who are on-hand to answer all your questions and queries, plus, you could even meet the next member of your family on the day!

Phew! With so much going on, you’ll definitely need a place to lay your head and call home for the weekend. Our residence – the Kelvingrove Hotel – is just a stone’s throw from the event’s venue, the SEC. Remember to book direct to lock in the best prices available for your room and get the inside scoop on availability!
